Hong Kong is a city that has something for everyone. Whether you’re looking to explore ancient temples, eat some of the best food in the world or enjoy an exhilarating ride on Ngong Ping 360, Hong Kong has it all!
Get a view of the city from Victoria Peak
Victoria Peak, also known as Mount Austin, is the highest point on Hong Kong Island and offers one of the city’s best views. It’s reachable by several ways, including hiking or taking a tram to the top (which is what we did). Once there you’ll find amazing vistas in every direction. At night it’s especially fun because there are lights below you – they reflect off the water and make it look like giant diamonds are scattered across the city!
You can walk around Victoria Peak at any time but we recommend doing so before sunset to see both day and nighttime simultaneously (that sounds weird but trust us!)
Get a taste of Hong Kong’s rich heritage
Hong Kong’s history dates back to the 19th century, when it was a major trading port. Today the city is a fusion of Chinese and British culture. With a rich history that spans centuries, you’ll find plenty to explore in Hong Kong!
You can get an understanding of this unique heritage by visiting some of our top recommended spots:
- The Hong Kong Museum of History offers an overview of Hong Kong’s past from prehistory through modern times. You’ll learn about everything from ancient pottery shards found at Shek O beach in Sai Kung District to artifacts like coins discovered during excavations for construction projects throughout the city.
- The Avenue Of Stars pays homage to famous actors and actresses who have made their mark on film and television. Here you’ll see handprints set into concrete blocks along with life-sized bronze statues honoring each celebrity’s work (or both). Your visit could include taking photos next to Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan—and don’t forget about seeing handprints from giants like Steven Spielberg!
Take an exhilarating ride on Ngong Ping 360
If you’re looking for a thrill, the Ngong Ping 360 cable car ride is the one for you. It’s a steep incline from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping in about 15 minutes. The Ngong Ping cable car is suspended from a ropeway and offers spectacular views of Hong Kong’s northern coast as it rises into the sky above Lantau Island. On top of that, it’s slow-moving so you can soak up all those amazing sights as they pass by. This ride is great for families with kids because there are no sharp drops or fast speeds; it simply whisks passengers over beautiful landscapes at an easy pace that leaves plenty of time to enjoy everything around them!
Discover Hong Kong’s greenery and wildlife
Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. However, it’s also a city that’s home to many parks and nature reserves. You can enjoy relaxing strolls through lush vegetation or take a hike up one of its mountains while enjoying the view from above.
The best thing about Hong Kong is that it has so many options for exploring nature to suit any interest or budget level. For example, if you want to escape into your own little world for an afternoon and do some reading under a tree on sandy ground with views of green trees, there are plenty of such places: Tamar Park, Aberdeen Country Park and Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve all come to mind immediately (although you’ll need transportation). If you’re more interested in seeing wildlife than just admiring plants and trees from afar (or because they’re not common sights in other parts of China), then head over to Ocean World or Ocean Park where marine life is showcased as well as animals like pandas at HKZG; butterflies at Butterfly Garden; parrots at Macau Bird Garden; penguins at Chimelong Safari Park etc… Aside from these well-known attractions there are also many lesser known ones like Kam Shan Country Trail which takes hikers through dense forests filled with bird calls!
Ride the historic Ding Ding Tram
The Ding Ding Tram is a historic tram line built in 1904. The tram goes around the city and is one of the best ways to see it. You’ll ride along Victoria Harbor, past Hong Kong Island’s famous skyline, and through bustling neighborhoods before ending up at Kennedy Town Terminus outside the old British Army barracks. If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to get exercise while sightseeing, this is it!
Visit a Temple
When you visit a temple, you can learn about the culture and history of the city. You can also learn about their beliefs. If you want to experience more than just one temple, many temples in Hong Kong offer tours and activities designed for tourists.
Temples are beautiful places where you can meditate on life and escape all your worries.

If you want to stay overnight in Tai O, we recommend: Tai O Heritage Hotel, which has a terrace restaurant overlooking the sea; Chung Hom Kok Hotel; or Hahei Guest House.

One of the most breathtaking views in Hong Kong is from Victoria Peak, or “The Peak” as it’s often called. The view from here is one of the most popular in Hong Kong and a must-see for any tourist who visits this beautiful city.
While there are many ways to get up to Victoria Peak, such as by tram or hiking up the mountain itself (which can be quite difficult), one of the easiest ways is via cable car ride that takes you right up to its peak.
